The Condon Family

The Condon's

This is my Grandma Barnum's family.

Mary Ann Condon Berg, Thomas Michael Condon, Helen Condon Barnum (my grandma), John Francis Condon, Ellen Elizabeth Caveny Condon (my great grandma), Bernard Anthony Condon and Elizabeth Condon Creane.

I think this was taken in Anoka, Minnesota, maybe in 1950's

Elizabeth Condon Creane

This is Elizabeth, she was born 15 December 1895 in Morrisonville, Illinois. She married a Dr. John Charles Creane after the 1930 Federal Census and before the 1940 Federal Census. She died 26 August 1995 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Elizabeth wrote a family history in 1982.

Here is some of it.

"Papa and Mama were married October 15, 1890 at Wood River, Nebraska and went to the homestead and lived in the sod house but after another crop failure. Too Dry, I hear that it is irrigated now. They moved back to Wood River. Tom and Francis were born there.

Then they moved to Illinois, on Uncle Bills place near Morrisonville. I was the only child ever born in that house. . . . The termites took over and had their day, if finally burned down about ten years ago.

This is hard to write.

There the big falling out happened, and we were disinherited. So we moved to the Howard place near Pawnee, where Bernie was born. From Pawnee we moved to the Gavin Place near Farmersville where Mary was born. From there we moved to the Blaney Place where Helen was born. While we lived on the Gavin place. Tom and Francis went to the Lone Elm School. 'Mother went to school there before the Cavenys went to Nebraska.
. . .
From Blaney place we moved to the Carter Place, near Raymond. The year of the Worlds Fair in St. Louis. 1904. We started to school the Pleasant Hill School, but the Hard Shell Baptists were a bit too much for us. So got transferred to the Fairview School, where we had no trouble. And a wonderful teacher, Betty Martin. Tom graduated there and then went to St. Francis Solanus College at Quincy, Ill. From which he graduated.
. . . .
Thence to Warren, Minnesota in March 1910".

The Condons are listed in 1920 Federal Census in Graceville, Minnesota. And then they moved to Anoka, Minnesota in 1920.

House in Graceville, Minnesota.
