She was born on 27 May 1903 in Raymond,  Montgomery, Illinois to John Joseph Condon and Ellen Elizabeth Cavney. She was the youngest of their children.

Elizabeth Condon Creane wrote: "So we moved we moved to the Howard place near Pawnee, where Bernie was born. From Pawnee we moved to the Gavin Place near Farmersville where Mary was born. From there we moved to the Blaney Place where Helen was born. While we lived on the Gavin place Tom and Francis went to the Lone Elm School. 'Mother went to school there before the Cavenys went to Nebraska.
. . . .
From the Blaney's Place we moved to the Carter Place, near Raymond. The year of the Worlds Fair in st. Louis. 1904.
. . . .
From Carters we moved to the Delaney Place near Raymond, where the afore mentioned celebration took place, and the Hatched was buried.
THENCE TO WARREN, MINNESOTA IN MARCH 1910."

She was listed with her family in the 1910 Federal Census in Warrenton, Minnesota.

Elizabeth continues: "The crop was a failure, taken care of by the Grasshoppers. They even stood on their head and ate the onions out of the ground. So it was decided we would move again. So we went to Graceville. In time for School. We were in Warren from the Ides of March till the first part of September.

I believe these two photos were taken in Graceville, Minnesota.

". . .
We all went to the St. Mary's Academy, I mean the rest of us, Tom went to the Bank of Chocio and Francis went to St. Louis. I finished then and went to S. Dakota and taught school. Mary went to her Senior year and Helen to her Junior year."

The Condon Family are listed in the 1920 Federal Census, Graceville, Minnesota.

The folks moved to Anoka, Minn. in 1920. There Mary and Helen finished their High School.
