Hannah was born 10 April 1810 Washington, Washington, Pennsylvania to Azariah Smalley and Elizabeth Slaught. She had 7 sisters and 2 brothers.

Hannah was married on 2 October 1827, Amwell, Washington, Pennsylvania to John Harshman. 

John Harshman's death notice 25 July 1885 it is mention that their family moved to Trumbull County, Ohio in 1847. Where they resided until 1851. Located to Hudson, Wisconsin and move to Spring Brook in 1855.

John Harshman is listed as a Farmer. Real Estate value $5000, Personal Estate value $1100.  Six children listed. And neighbor is son-in-law J.H. Eubanks and daughter Mary's family. J.H. Eubanks is listed as Merchant clerk with two children.

John Harshman is listed as a Farmer. Real Estate value $5000, Personal Estates value $2000. Living by Son-in-law Bela Wilcox and daughter Laura.  Bela's occupation Carpenter. Personal Estate value $500. 
Son Daniel and family neighboring farm. Daniel is listed as Farmer. Real Estate value $5000, Personal Estate, Personal Estate $1000.  Son-in-law Thomas Dickson and daughter Margaret lived two farms away. Thomas listed as Farmer. Real Estate value $3000, Personal Estate $1500.

John is listed as a Farmer.  Son Samuel and family are listed on neighboring farm with family. And son-in-law Thomas Dickson and daughter Margaret are living two farms away.

        Mrs John Harshman is very sick, and very little hopes,
if any, are entertained of her recovery. She seemed 
 
very much better Monday 0 so much so that Mr. 
Lem. Harshman, of Lost Lake, and Mrs. Eubanks, 
of Rice Lake, (children of Mrs. H.) returned home. 
Mrs. Aldrich, of Nebraska and Mrs. Able of     
Minnesota, are in attendance at the bedside of 
their sick mother. June 20. CHATTY.

Died. - At her residence, in Spring Brook, Mrs. John Harshman, age 73 years. Mrs. H, was born April 17, 1810, and married John Harshman, October 1827. She was converted and joined the Methodist church fifty-five years ago this month, and has lived in fellowship with the church of her choice since that time. Her illness was of five month's duration. Anticipating death from the first, she expressed resignation to the will of her master.  She has been a resident of Spring Brook twenty-six year and was loved be all for her many christian virtues. She leaves a husband, eight daughters and four sons to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held at the residence; sermon by Rev. John Holt, from Rev. 14:13-" Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord." The funeral was attended by a large concourse of relatives and friends.
