#52ancestors Week 6 Social Media (February 5-Feb. 11)

This weeks prompt Social Media kind of had me stumped.  But then I started to think about my in laws growing up in Northwestern Indiana.  Crown Point, Indiana.  This is the county seat of Lake County 


Lorraine and Paul both worked at the movie theater that was on the court house square.  

As with most small time midwestern towns at that time the local papers had many "social" items posted in the paper.  Kind of like "Facebook".  I wish I had ask my mother-in-law how she felt about being in the paper.  Below are a few of the post before they were married.

Crown Point Personal and Social -Hammond Times

 A group of young folks Saturday evening enjoyed a progressive party, a cocktail service and salad course being enjoyed at the starting of the evening's menu at the home of Mr and Mrs. Dudley Pounds with Miss Ethel Boggs as hostess. Miss Loraine Margison was the next hostess to a spaghetti menu in her parent's home and the dessert course being enjoyed in the home of Miss Marjorie Muzzall at the close of the evening. Those of the party were Marian Anderson and Robert Welch, Ethel Boggs and Bud Wilson, Lorraine Margison and Robert Bunker, and Miss Marjorie Muzzall and Chas. Quickel. 

Hammonds Times (Hammond, Lake, Indiana) 20 October 1937

Local beauticians to attend the annual convention and trade show of the American Cosmeticians association at the Sherman hotel in Chicago which is in session this wee, 18th, 19th and 20th will be Mrs. Dan Kreitzman and Mrs. Raymond Anderson and daughter Marian to attend on Wednesday. Miss Lorraine Margison will be a guest of Miss Andersons for the showing.

Misses Lorraine Margison and Marian Anderson and their escorts, Robert Bunker and Robert Welsch visited the WGN studios and programs on Wednesday evening in Chicago.
